A lot of our patients at Dental Associates of Manchester are treated for cavities by Dr. Timothy A. Collier, Gordon F. Goettsch, & Zachary Stecklein. In most cases of cavities, it can be fairly easy to tell what the issue is. However, some cases can be more difficult to diagnose.
Since it can sometimes be difficult to tell if you have cavities, here are two common types of cavities and their symptoms.
Aching Teeth
If you have a toothache that has lasted for quite some time and is accompanied by a dull ache and sharp pains, it’s a good idea for you to check it out with your dentist as it is most likely a cavity. If you haven’t had a regular dental cleaning in sometime, the cavity could have developed recently because of this. It may be possible to treat your cavity with just a regular filling, but time is of the essence, so schedule an appointment immediately!
Teeth that Hurt when Biting Down
If regular biting and chewing causes your teeth pain, it could also be a sign you have a cavity. This is a different type from one that causes constant pain. In this instance, the cavity is newer and just recently formed. Even though this type is less severe, treatment for it is still important and so you should have it checked out by your dentist as soon as you can.
