Most people would agree that raising children can be complicated. For instance, tasks that should be simple may be more complex than you would normally expect. Even mundane tasks like brushing your little one’s teeth can, at times, seem nearly impossible—or at least not worth the effort. However, as you know, dental health is extremely important, meaning it’s important to teach your children good habits at an early age. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to make the process easier—such as choosing the right toothpaste for your little one.
Conversely, choosing the wrong toothbrush for your child can actually make the task more difficulty. For instance, did you know that many children may find the mint flavor in toothpaste overpowering and unpleasant? Sadly, if your child doesn’t like the flavor they’re given, they’ll be more likely to fight the process. On the other hand, if you get your child a fruity toothpaste, they may find brushing more enjoyable.
Similarly, fluoride may be good for your teeth, but did you know it can be harmful if swallowed—and since children under three can’t spit their toothpaste out, it’s generally better to get a toothpaste without fluoride in it.
Sadly, even with tips like these, it won’t necessarily be easy for you to brush your child’s teeth—and you’ll probably need to brush their teeth until they’re able to tie their shoes. Fortunately, if you remember to choose the right toothpaste for your child, you’ll be able to help them establish good patterns that can last for the rest of their lives.
